To be eligible for a .au domain you need to have proof.

The below briefly explains the eligibility criteria for .au domain names…

.com.au

You must be a commercial organisation to be eligible for a .com.au domain name and registered with the appropriate registration numbers. For example,

  • an Australian registered company; or
  • trading under a registered business name in any Australian State or Territory; or
  • an Australian partnership or sole trader; or
  • a foreign company licensed to trade in Australia; or
  • an owner of an Australian Registered Trade Mark; or
  • an applicant for an Australian Registered Trade Mark; or
  • an association incorporated in any Australian State or Territory; or
  • an Australian commercial statutory body.

.net.au

The net.au domain is for commercial purposes. You must be a commercial organisation to be eligible for a .net.au domain name and registered with the appropriate registration numbers. For example,

  • an Australian registered company; or
  • trading under a registered business name in any Australian State or Territory; or
  • an Australian partnership or sole trader; or
  • a foreign company licensed to trade in Australia; or
  • an owner of an Australian Registered Trade Mark; or
  • an applicant for an Australian Registered Trade Mark; or
  • an association incorporated in any Australian State or Territory; or
  • an Australian commercial statutory body.

.org.au

You must be a non-commercial organisation to be eligible for a .org.au domain name and registered with the appropriate registration numbers. For example,

  • an association incorporated in any Australian State or Territory; or
  • a political party registered with the Australian Electoral Commission; or
  • a trade union or other organisation registered under the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009; or
  • a sporting or special interest club operating in Australia; or
  • a charity operating in Australia, as defined in the registrant’s constitution or other documents of incorporation; or
  • a non-profit organisation operating in Australia, as defined in the registrant’s constitution or other documents of incorporation.

.id.au

You must be an individual and an Australian citizen or resident to be eligible for a .id.au domain name. For example,

  • an Australian citizen; or
  • an Australian resident.

.asn.au

You must be non-commercial organisations to be eligible for a .asn.au domain name. For example,

  • an association incorporated in any Australian State or Territory; or
  • a political party registered with the Australian Electoral Commission; or
  • a trade union or other organisation registered under the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009; or
  • a sporting or special interest club operating in Australia; or
  • a charity operating in Australia, as defined in the registrant’s constitution or other documents of incorporation; or
  • a non-profit organisation operating in Australia, as defined in the registrant’s constitution or other documents of incorporation.
